I've always doubted this 'First impression is the best'. We often used to hear this during our PDP classes for placements. But ever since i've known about this saying, i have been wondering, how true it is and can be?
It's human nature to lose interest in things after some time. Be it materialistic, or a subject of study or a person for that matter. Something, which seemed quite interesting at first can turn out to be a boring stuff after some time? Such being the case, how can a first impression remain the best all the time?
Take for example, a book you start reading. How often does this happen to you that, starting, you'l find it thrilling, but as you get deeper into its pages, you start losing the interest. What's the reason for that? Do you blame the author for he/she couldn't write it in a way as to keep the readers interested all through the end? Or is it because we change our interests quite faster than the speed with which we read the book?
Is it all that natural to change interests so soon? After all, why do we get attracted to something? Is it because, the color is nice, texture is nice, or is it because no one else possesses such a thing? And when it comes to persons, why do we find someone very interesting? There are people who have excellent skills , be it public speaking, some game or art or anything. And all of us wil be attracted to these people one or the other time. They will have had an impression on us. And that if it's a good one, we think it's the best one. But not many of us wil know if it's truly a quality the person has that creates an impression. When it comes to certain skills, it certainly can be for we'l have the proof right before our eyes. But when it is not, for example, a candidate in an interview, who projects himself as the right one for the post, tries in all possible ways to make a good first impression, how can one gauge that? How can one guarantee if that 'first good impression' wil become the 'best' in coming years or if it's going to be a farce.
There are two categories of people. Who like the things just opposite to themselves and those who like those which are just like them. I guess, instead of calling them things, i should address as people! Which of them is better? By learning something what i'm not, or what i don't know, it would be complementary to my personality right? If i fear speaking in public, I'd naturally get attracted to someone who is comfortable with that. But at the same time, i feel the people who are with me, agree to my terms, tell what i say is right and i naturally look out for people who agree to my terms. And at such times, how does one decide which one to follow? Right it depends on context..But if not many, atleast some of us will have been faced with this dilemma, whether to follow what someone else says or to enforce my own views on others? I've certainly felt this at times.
It's said, the more you get closer to something, the more you'l understand the depths of it. Such being the case, how can one say first impression is the best impression? What does one do, if a person turns out not according to the impression he created of himself? Who do we blame? Is it our naivety we blame or the other person for his/her pretence? I've not got an answer to this till today...Hoping to find some day i'm adding this one to my list of unanswered questions :)
Myself..not much to tell about! I'm someone who'd like to be simple with complex thoughts! Paradoxes have always fancied me...and so is my blog name too..!

Jaago Re!
This very word- Jaago Re! sounds very familiar these days.... 15th Loksabha elections are around the corner and India, especially its politicians, regardless of the parties are getting ready for it with all enthusiasm. All these days, elections were an affair with the election commission and the parties except for that people used to vote. That too how many of us? To be frank , even i've not voted in the last assembly elections for the state.... I never found enough of reasons to vote for any party or the person... But this time, the whole election process seems to have undergone a tremendous change. The Election commission is more vigilant than ever. And hope so it serves the purpose... But above all these things, what is so special about the general elections this time, is the kind of interest people of India are showing in the voting process. The campaign to spread awareness among the people, especially youth, with the publicity they are giving , has reached many people i think. And that has made people like me, think on it. Voting is our basic right. Should we vote?
For reasons not known, i've been interested in politics ever since my school days. Interested in the sense, that field has many things to give and much more things to take from the society! people there change their views in no time. So many parties, so many principles. Everything seems to have one or the other good thing to appreciate. But isn't it possible to have everything in one party? That's too high an exception to be realised i think for nature never gives us something 100% perfect... but, why not something practical if not ideal??
Governing a country involves intricacies at much more complex levels than i can imagine. I know that. But is it all that impossible to have a transparent process at all levels of the government? Just forget the government for a moment, first of all, the elections, despite the efforts of the commission to make it a free and fair process, it's not unknown to the people about everything involved in an election. When i see such a thing at the roots only, how can i make up my mind to vote for anyone, when i can't find anyone in the lot whom i feel can serve the society? It has made me think at times, is it the flaw with our constitution that we don't have a good election procedure or is the form of the government we have is not good? I don't know.
It's said politics is the last resort. Don't ask for whom! [ ;) ] . Looking at the current situation ,Indian politics seems to reflect that. It's not that there ain't any worthy people there. There are a few, or there may be many, but what do they get?? There's no difference in what an honest officer gets and an honest politican gets. That being the situation, how can i make up my mind to vote when i find none worthy of my vote?
Are we supposed to choose the best among those available unfortunately? Then on what basis do we have to choose that? How do we believe in people who are there in politics when there is no guarantee that they'l have the same views and same principles even after the elections?
Well.. that seems to be too pessimistic. Although i'm one, but this time i've decided to vote. Let there not be a loophole from my side. how can i blame on something when i've never been on the side to improve it? So, i've decided to vote... But............... still sceptical with the results, as i'm always. :) Let's wait and see if the whole 1 billion population if voted, will make any difference... And my best wishes to the Jaago Re team for their effort.
